Taken

I take my time reading Richard Wilbur,

Captured by his wit, playful yet sober.

A verbal nudge, a sly pun, almost fey,

As if he knew I couldn't turn away,

Would be entranced by joy as well as grief,

His measured trust in love, however brief.

More now as my hair has turned to silver,

I take my time and read Richard Wilbur.
